Kenneth Leonard, Jr. the musical director for the “Put A Praise On It” singer has put a ring on it. The two celebrated their nuptials in a private surprise ceremony Friday, March 3, 2017.
The 35-year-old publicly announced the happy news on Instagram by posting a smiling photo next to her groom, where the newlywed pair flashed their wedding bands.
The caption simply said, “Mrs. Leonard,” with a diamond ring emoji.
Instantly, congratulatory messages poured out from supporters. Everyone was in shock, including those inside the new Mrs. Leonard’s close circle of friends, family and ministry network, who were unaware that she was planning to wed.
In fact, attendees believed they were gathering for a private dinner party.
The Tasha Cobbs Ministries founder played coy about her relationship last year during an interview on The Yolanda Adams Morning Show. When co-hosts attempted to get the Jesup, Georgia native to open up about her significant other, she said, “Well, I don’t believe in putting no names out there.”
As the interviewers pressed, Tasha said, “when he put a ring on it,” then she would “put a name on it.”
Now everyone knows his name.
According to Tasha, “We’ve never kept our relationship a secret, but with both of us working publicly in the music industry, we wanted the opportunity to celebrate privately.”
She shared in a statement obatined by EEW Magazine, “After a year of pre-marital counseling and much planning, the timing was finally perfect. It was incredible to be able to surprise those closest to us!”
The glowing bride beamed in photos with Kenneth after Bishop-Designate Bryan Pierce, pastor of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Greensboro, NC, officiated.
Tasha’s new husband Kenneth is musical director for several artists, including Soul singer Anthony Hamilton, R&B songstress Tamia, and of course his leading lady, Tasha.
And music isn’t his only talent. Kenneth holds a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from North Carolina State University, aside from being an active music producer. So, whether he wanted to continue in the music game or not, the gifted music man has something to fall back on.
Kenneth doesn’t hoard his success. He spreads the love and wisdom to other professional and aspiring musicians through his HISound conference, which teaches conference-goers how to improve in various areas, inclusive of musical skill and industry know-how.
The father of three and his new wife took a mini-pause from their hectic road schedules to exchange vows and become one forever. An excited Tasha wrote on Instagram, “I love my family” adding the hashtag, “#BlendedFamiliesRock.”

During the bride and groom’s surprise affair, elite and powerhouse couples were on the scene, including: Bishop I.V. and Pastor Bridget Hilliard of New Light Christian Center Church; Bishop William and Pastor Danielle Murphy of Tasha’s home church, The dReam Center of Atlanta; and Bishop Paul Morton of Changing A Generation Full Gospel Baptist Church and Pastor Debra Morton of Greater St. Stephen Full Gospel Baptist Church.
Gospel artists Kierra Sheard and Isaac Carree, dear friends of the songstress, lent their musical talents to the celebration.
The couple indulged in their first kiss as husband and wife after their marriage pronouncement by the officiant, while attendees cheered loudly.
“Kenny and Tasha, you are no longer two individuals, but one person,” said Bishop-Designate Pierce. He added, “And what God has joined together, let no man separate.”
Tasha, who lost her father Bishop Fritz Cobbs in January 2014, enjoyed her heart-warming first dance with her pastor, Bishop Murphy. Her mother Bertha Cobbs looked on adoringly.
